Dried wood chips

Bionerga was looking for a 3-fraction screening machine that could be loaded with a compact wheel loader. This was for the first biomass plant in Flanders to be installed in Houthalen-Helchteren. The purpose of such plants is to heat municipalities, sports halls and schools, among other things. With this project, the province of Limburg wants to invest in sustainable techniques.

The wood chips would come out of the dryer and then the wheel loader would load the screening machine and dispose of the screened fractions.

After an initial site visit, we were able to convince Bionerga to take an alternative line of thinking. Instead of 1 large 3-fraction screener, why not 2 smaller screeners (Mini Screeners) that were fed immediately via a conveyor belt after the wood chips came out of the dryer? Now only the dryer has to be replenished and the screened fractions disposed of. Disposal of the dried wood chips and loading of the screener should no longer be performed.

In addition to working more efficiently, fuel costs are saved (wheel loader) and the entire custom-built system is cheaper and more environmentally friendly than the 3-fraction screen in which there was initial interest.
